About me

This is all about my attempt to become a doctor whilst being a mum to my 2 lovely children aged 8 and 3. Far from being a “typical” medical student, I started medical school in September 2012 without any A-levels and without any doctors or scientists in my family. Being 10 years older than most of the other first years left me wondering what I had let myself in for, but having just passed my first year I am still convinced that I am doing  the right thing. Most days I still cannot believe that I am actually at medical school, it seemed like such an impossible dream. Fingers crossed in 4 years from now I will be graduating as a doctor, this is my journey………………..

Just found your blog, and glad I did:) Just out of curiosity; how were you able to go to medical school without any A-levels?

Hi. Thanks for your nice comment. I did a part time degree from home and got a first so they accepted me based on that, my ukcat and my interview 🙂

I am also a medic without A levels, 8 years or so older than classmates, and have a 4 year old, in London! I feel your pain – keep blogging!

My 4 year old once said ‘do exams eat people?’ I think he thought they were some kind of sabre toothed monster. I was like, well yeah, yeah they do
